Homespun

Ever since Thanksgiving we have been encouraged to start our holiday shopping. I have to confess. I am one of those last minute kinda people. In my defense, we just had Showtime and as you know design never stops!

Well, with the holiday shopping now going into full swing, I felt compelled to write this blog.

I do have a cool holiday tradition. I love to make things and gifts. We always make an ornament. And, I often make my gifts. I thought you guys may be inspired to make your gifts this year! You can buy some cool Revolution Performance Fabrics® on our new online store and make gifts. Here are some cool ideas:  bag, pillow, throw, dog bed, table runner, skirt… let your imagination run wild!!! Have fun… a home made gift is always extra special!!

1. forming an essential foundation or starting point; fundamental.

Most of the time when you are designing a fabric, you are not thinking about what you would personally want in your home. Of course your personality comes through, but it’s not really about what you want but what others will want. Sometimes, those two things come together and it gets you especially pumped up about showing and sharing. This is how I feel about this new style Basic. The name fits, it is a true basic like your favorite jeans, shoes, black dress… it is a classic in your wardrobe that goes with everything and is with you for years. Basic is an awesome foundation for many looks. The boucle yarn component gives it texture and random berber type colors that give it that versatility. Oh and by the way, it’s REVOLUTION! Need I say more?

Styles Spice and Opulent fall into the shibori style category. This look has been on trend for awhile, but it seems to be gaining momentum. And, now you can have the look in a performance fabric with a PLUS! These two styles are also machine washable. Very relaxed and comfy like your favorite pair of jeans! So you can relax with your new fabric… no worries of an accident… easy to clean… because life happens!

Here is a collection of our high tech Revolution Performance Fabrics® that are inspired by low tech hand loomed fabrics. These fabrics are inspired by: French grain sacks, Haitian cottons, and vintage hand loomed fabrics. We are drawn to the natural looking soft easy to live with fabric. Now, they are truly easy to live with because of their clean ability and durability. Not only are they beautiful they’re performance.

collaborate

col·lab·o·ra·tion:  the action of working with someone to produce or create something

We love to collaborate with our customers and with each other as designers developing our Revolution product. It can be as simple as creating a special color in an existing style (see Abode Willow). Or, as complicated as creating an entire collection of fabrics that work together.

I am excited to share with you one of the most recent collaborations. Our new social and marketing manager, Dani Bellomo, shared an idea she found recently on a friend’s skirt. So, taking inspiration from the look we created an awesome new revolution style. The soft subtle stripe, Collaborate, has tons of texture. The effect being created with weaves and boucle yarns.

Dani has been amazing to work with. She started with the company on June 1st. It is great to have someone to bounce ideas off of… informal critique. We welcome the opportunity to work with customers… collaborate, engineer… bring ideas to reality

Happy Fourth of July Everyone!

Made in the USA

Why made in the USA matters?

The answer to that question seems pretty obvious, but here are some ideas you may have not have thought of:

Jobs… employing people with good pay and benefits, putting more money back into our economy.

Green… low carbon footprint… less fuel used getting product to market

Time… less time in transport… better service and delivery… more reactive to trends

Technology… more innovative processes are used creating a superior product: better hand, better performance. Like any good family recipe… we have to keep some things a secret.
