How do we make super fabulous pillow fabrics?
My favorite way is to start with a beautiful piece of artwork like the one below from Diane Harrison.
With the moral support of Cheshire Cat and using Ned Graphics software, I edit the artwork to the predetermined size.
You may be saying, Huh?! I edit the graphic depending on how many pics I want in the final fabric . The repeat size, and how many layers of yarn I want the cloth to have also factor in. This will also determine the cost.
I use the software to create a file which tells the loom how I want the yarns to rotate as the material weaves. I select super-secret weaves thought of by Jeff Davis to tell the loom what yards to bring to the face of the fabric as it weaves.
An example of these weaves are below (photographed through plastic to protect the super secrecy!)
Voila! The final fabric!
